The inaugural edition of Showcase Singapore from 9-12 September 2008 brought twenty-three international galleries together for the first truly contemporary art fair in Southeast Asia. The mix of galleries from East and West, presenting the best work available from the primary and secondary markets, confirmed that the contemporary art market is now truly global.
What distinguishes Showcase Singapore from other fairs in the region is its boutique approach. By limiting the number of participants, Showcase Singapore is able to maintain a very high standard of quality, allowing the exhibitors to feature the best of their programs in a more personal environment.
Singapore provides the perfect portal to the Asian markets. As a cosmopolitan, dynamic and multi-cultural country, the Lion City serves as a business, financial, and services hub not only for the region, but for all of Asia and beyond. This unique position offers Showcase Singapore the ability to reach out and embrace the entire international contemporary art community.
The Singapore government is heavily invested in making Singapore an art destination. With world-class hotel accommodations, shopping, restaurants, clubs, exhibition venues and sites for art, Singapore has the infrastructure to attract and support tourism from around the world. Most importantly, it is the most international of all of the cities in the Far East and with English as the lingua franca, it is also one of the most user-friendly.
Fortune Cookie Projects is excited to present the 2009 edition of Showase Singapore from 10-13 September. A select group of galleries from around the world will again be bringing the very best of the contemporary art market to Singapore. We look forward to welcoming you there.
